Q: Can a single person be a Foster Parent?

 

A: Yes !

 

Q: How long will the child stay in foster Care?

 

A: The goal is between 6 months and one year. With that said, it is difficult to predict when the child and/or his parents will progress enough on goals to make reunification possible.

 

Q: How long does it take to get licensed?

           

A: After an application is submitted to the agency it is reasonable to expect that Licensure can be completed in 2-6 months. The timeframe, of course depends 

on the cooperation of the family in meeting with the agency and completing     paperwork. 

 

Q: How many children can I be licensed for?

A: It is possible that your home could be licensed for up to four children, however a Treatment Foster Home only receives on placement at a time.

 

Q: Would I have a choice about the types of children or adolescents placed in my foster home?

 

A: Absolutely. Foster Parents are in charge of the placements into their home. A careful

As part of the Treatment Team, the Foster Parent is involved, as much as possible in the referral of a child to the program. You have the right to know as much information as is available about the case, prior to placement in your home. You will have the opportunity to meet with the child’s current service workers, and possibly with the child, prior to placement.
